How to properly clean and maintain a flat mop after use?

After using a flat mop, separate the mop head from the rod body for cleaning, flip the base to open the buckle and remove the mop. If the mop bucket is detachable, it needs to be turned upside down to drain the accumulated water, and press the hidden buckle to separate the drain basket from the barrel. Soak the mop in warm water containing baking soda + detergent for 10-20 minutes to soften oil and hair. If the mop has an odor, soak it in diluted bleach for 5 minutes to sterilize it. When washing the mop by hand, use a soft brush or an old toothbrush to focus on the dirt in the fiber gaps, and avoid rubbing it hard to cause the fiber to break. After cleaning, insert the mop head into the cleaning bucket, pull it up and down to squeeze out the dirty water through the scraper bar, and repeat 3-5 times until there is no obvious moisture in the mop. Use 75% alcohol to spray the mop rod joints and buckles regularly every month. The mop can be soaked in oxygen-containing disinfectants (such as sodium percarbonate) for 10 minutes to prevent mold growth. Hang the mop in a ventilated place to dry in the shade (avoid direct sunlight that causes fiber hardening). The disassembled mop bucket needs to be inverted to drain the water to prevent water accumulation and mold at the bottom of the bucket.

During later maintenance, regularly wipe the hair residue on the edge of the scraper strip with a damp cloth. If the rubber strip is aged and hardened, soak it in hot water to restore its elasticity. After disassembly, use a neutral detergent + soft brush to clean the inner wall of the bucket, focusing on cleaning the gaps in the drain basket. Stubborn scale can be wiped off after soaking in citric acid solution. Check whether the filter at the bottom of the drainage system is blocked, and use tweezers to remove the entangled hair if necessary. When cleaning the mop, do not scrub the mop with a steel wool to avoid damaging the fiber structure. The mop used to wipe the wooden floor needs to be completely wrung out to prevent moisture from seeping into the gaps and causing deformation.
